Hi! I've been working with words in one form or another for most of my life. Since 2003 I've been a part-time professor of creative writing at The New School in New York City (where I received my MFA). I've been a developmental editor, book coach, and freelance copy editor since 2007, and have had the pleasure of working with many talented writers.
One of my superpowers -- and favorite things -- is making stories suspenseful. For years I taught a class called Suspenseful Storytelling and I apply what I learned (I always learn from my students!) to my developmental editing and book coaching projects. I will help make your stories unputdownable, whatever the genre.
I'm also an author. My memoir, Dirty Secret: A Daughter Comes Clean About Her Mother's Compulsive Hoarding (Simon & Schuster/Gallery) was the first memoir by the child of a hoarder; it's been used in college syllabi, at social work conferences, and by therapists in their practices. Before writing Dirty Secret I co-edited an anthology of literary nonfiction set in the Czech Republic. I've also had short stories published in literary magazines and am currently working on a novel.
EVEN MORE ABOUT ME:
I love dogs. Okay, let's be honest: I'm obsessed with dogs. I also love gardening, biking, and disco-themed roller skating.
Reserve your spot to discuss how I can coach you through the writing process, help edit your completed manuscript, or revise and polish your query letter until it’s so sparkling that it's irresistible to agents.
